The secret to the speaker's sound lies in Q Acoustics' Dual Gelcore cabinet construction, which eliminates unwanted vibrations and resonances within the speaker enclosure, preventing them from corrupting the outgoing sound. Special attention has also been paid to the included stand, which utilizes the principle of tensegrity, a synergy of tension and integrity. In practice, this means the speaker effectively "floats" in the air, as there is no direct contact surface in the traditional sense between the speaker's suspended bottom plate and the stand.

Driver technology has also been invested in and further developed from its elder sibling, the Concept 500. The tweeter is the same as in the elder sibling, but the bass driver has been further refined to optimize its performance in a significantly smaller enclosure.
