The Fathom f112v2 is ideally suited for medium-sized rooms, where it delivers rock-solid, accurate, fast, and powerful bass reproduction. The combination of an ultra-long-excursion 12-inch W7 driver and a highly efficient amplifier gives it the kind of formidable power normally associated with much larger and more complex subwoofer systems.
Because the f112v2 utilizes the same driver design and amplification technology as our acclaimed flagship Gotham®, it delivers highly convincing sound quality. Low distortion, excellent dynamic characteristics, and shockingly deep extension allow you to experience all the excitement of the most demanding cinematic material, while Fathom is simultaneously capable of reproducing all the nuances and textures of your delicate musical material.
A complete suite of signal processing features is easily accessible from the front panel of every Fathom. These include a highly flexible low-pass filter, phase control and polarity inversion, e.l.f. trim, and an extremely accurate Digital Automatic Room Optimization (D.A.R.O.) system. A high-quality calibrated microphone is supplied for the D.A.R.O. system. Input connections are made via RCA connectors or balanced Neutrik® combo XLR / TRS connectors. An XLR output is also included, through which you can daisy-chain another Fathom subwoofer.
Fathom bass drivers utilize JL Audio's proprietary DMA optimization, which ensures that the driver's motor force provides a highly linear excursion over a long travel distance. Unlike traditional modeling methods, DMA accounts for dynamic variations in current delivery with real music material. The advantage of this technology is that the driver keeps up with the pace whether listening loud or quiet, unlike many traditional subwoofers whose reproduction only 'opens up' when the throttle is turned up significantly.
The extreme mounting depth of the driver is intentional and allows for sufficient distance between the suspension and dual spiders and the cone, enabling truly long excursion and minimal distortion values, as well as improved durability.
