E-Sub bass elements utilize JL Audio's exclusive DMA technology, which optimizes the driver's motor force, ensuring an extremely linear excursion over a long stroke. Unlike traditional modeling methods, DMA accounts for dynamic current variations with real music material. The advantage of this technology is that the element keeps up whether listening at high or low volumes, unlike many traditional subwoofers that only 'open up' when pushed harder.
The extreme mounting depth of the driver is intentional, allowing sufficient distance between the suspension and the dual spiders, and from the cone itself. This enables a truly long excursion and minimal distortion, while also improving longevity.
To drive this innovative driver, a completely new type of amplifier module was designed, with particular attention paid to its power supply. Thanks to its efficient design, the amplifier module is both light and compact without compromising performance, and is thus capable of delivering an immense amount of clean power to the driver.
In terms of features, the E-Sub is suitable for both stereo and multi-channel systems, accepting signals at both line and speaker levels. This means it can be connected to virtually any amplifier without additional components, and its comprehensive adjustment features make it easy to acoustically integrate into any room.
The subwoofer's active crossover utilizes a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley type filter. The low-pass filter feeds the signal to the subwoofer, eliminating higher frequencies from the subwoofer's signal that are reproduced by the main speakers, preventing overlaps and destructive sound waves. Additionally, the crossover includes phase inversion for perfect matching with the speakers. The crossover can also be bypassed when subwoofer settings and cutoffs are to be managed by an AV receiver, in which case the subwoofer receives precisely the frequency band you define for the LFE channel of the amplifier.
