E-Sub bass drivers utilize JL Audio's exclusive DMA technology, which optimizes the driver's motor power to achieve extremely linear excursion with long travel. Unlike traditional modeling methods, DMA accounts for dynamic fluctuations in current supply with real music material. The advantage of this technology is that the driver keeps up whether listening at high or low volumes, unlike many traditional subwoofers that only "open up" when turned up significantly.
The extreme mounting depth of the driver is intentional and allows for sufficient spacing between the suspension and dual spiders, as well as from the cone, which enables very long excursion, minimal distortion, and improved lifespan.
A completely new type of amplifier module was designed to drive the innovative driver, with particular attention paid to its power supply. Thanks to efficient design, the amplifier module is both lightweight and compact without compromising performance, and thus capable of delivering an immense amount of clean power to the driver.
In terms of features, the E-Sub is suitable for both stereo and multichannel systems, and it accepts signals at both line and speaker levels, meaning it can be connected to virtually any amplifier without additional devices. Thanks to its comprehensive adjustment features, it is easy to acoustically adapt to the room.
The subwoofer's active crossover utilizes a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley type filter, where the low-pass filter feeds the signal to the subwoofer, eliminating higher frequencies from the subwoofer's signal that are reproduced by the main speakers, preventing overlaps and destructive sound waves. In addition, the crossover includes phase inversion for perfect integration with the speakers. The crossover can also be bypassed when the subwoofer's settings and crossovers are desired to be managed by an AV receiver; in this case, the subwoofer receives precisely the frequency band you define for the lfe channel in the receiver.
