GLM Genelec Loudspeaker Manager

The first version of GLM software was introduced in 2006. Since then, GLM has helped audio professionals calibrate and use Genelec loudspeakers. GLM software is constantly evolving. Now GLM is taking a new, significant step. GLM includes cloud service features, loudness standard compliant sound level reference calibration and numerous other improvements.

If the mixes you make in your studio don't work in other environments, your studio's acoustics may have distorted the playback of your monitor speakers, creating a wrong impression of the recording's content. A high-quality mix is not possible unless the monitor speakers' playback is neutral and truthful.

GLM helps you effectively utilize the advanced signal processing technology of Genelec's SAM series loudspeakers and subwoofers. The SAM range has expanded significantly and includes loudspeakers from the tiny 8320 to the massive 1236. GLM analyzes the effect of the listening room using the measurement microphone included in the control network adapter package. After this, GLM AutoCal automatic calibration unifies the sound levels of the loudspeakers and subwoofers, equalizes delays caused by distance differences, adjusts the phase alignment of each subwoofer, and removes the effect of room acoustics on the frequency responses of the loudspeaker and subwoofer. Calibration files and settings can be further modified manually. With GLM, you can easily create several calibrations optimized for different use cases. GLM's powerful room correction produces excellent stable and reliable monitoring, making it possible to create high-quality mixes.

The GLM Genelec Loudspeaker Manager package includes the GLM System Operating Manual, a quick installation guide, the GLM Network interface with a built-in microphone amplifier, a USB cable, a Network cable, a Genelec 8300A calibration microphone, and a holder. The package also includes AutoCal - Genelec's fully automated acoustic calibration tool.

NOTE! GLM is compatible with Genelec's previous Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) models (8200 and 7200 series, 7261SE) and supports the 8300-416 control network adapter. GLM is not compatible with the older 8200-416 adapter or analog Classic Series active loudspeakers and subwoofers.

With GLM, you can…
  • Calibrate and control a network of up to 45 SAM active loudspeakers and subwoofers.
  • Effortlessly create and use loudspeaker configurations from stereo to modern immersive 3D sound systems.
  • Assemble and customize loudspeaker systems according to your current needs.
  • Utilize GLM AutoCal automatic calibration to create neutral and reliable sound monitoring. AutoCal equalizes volume differences between loudspeakers and delays caused by placement, adjusts subwoofer phase, and calibrates the frequency response of each loudspeaker and subwoofer.
  • Adjust the frequency response profile to suit your application.
  • Send your GLM measurement data to the Cloud Helpdesk, a cloud-based support service. You will receive expert advice and guidance.
  • Calibrate monitoring sound pressure effortlessly and without separate measuring devices according to loudness standards, such as ATSC A/85 and EBU R128.
  • Use the GLM Cloud service anytime, anywhere, for example, for storing measurement and settings files.
  • Set the volume to display on a relative (dB) or absolute (dBFS) sound pressure scale. You can also use an optional wired or wireless controller to adjust the volume.
  • Create settings files, for example, for different listening positions or loudspeaker configurations, and activate them with a couple of clicks.
  • Create modified frequency response settings and different signal formats in the same settings file as different groups.
  • Work more efficiently and reduce listening fatigue thanks to accurate and reliable reproduction.
