The 8381A empowers engineers and creatives to perceive every sonic detail, offering lifelike sound levels and dynamics – with complete flexibility for free-standing monitors and advanced room adaptation.

Precisely tailored to your room

Working with the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, the 8381A monitoring system intelligently adapts to the listening room’s response in an optimal way. This offers great flexibility to manage even the most challenging environments – providing an accurate presentation, including low-frequency reproduction that integrates perfectly with the entire audio content.

The 8381A is designed to deliver full audible content, with a response extending beyond the conventional hearing range – and perfectly aligned in the time domain – it provides an accurate understanding of all the minute details of recorded waves. Thanks to its high SPL capability, the 8381A can make even extremely low-level details audible, making it an uncompromising tool for monitoring.

Sound image you can trust

Quickly make the right mixing and mastering decisions with uncompromising detail in the sound image. The 8381A's point source principle offers a unique advantage of maintaining precise sound color and sound image at all listening distances, allowing for exceptional placement freedom and eliminating the vertical sound color variation typical of larger monitors.

The carefully designed Directivity Control Waveguide ensures pure lateral sound color, reducing the effect of listening room reverberation on mixing decisions, while improving the accuracy and reliability of monitoring work in all rooms.

The floor-standing 8381 positions the sound stage at a natural listening height, while also supporting traditional high main monitor positions with the included tilt system.

Genelec quality and support

Shaped under the expert guidance of industrial designer Harri Koskinen, the 8381A is fully designed and built in Iisalmi, Finland. Leveraging over four decades of company experience, Genelec’s passionate engineering team has meticulously designed and optimized every component of the 8381A. This is how we have created a monitor loudspeaker that is ideal for the most demanding audio applications – built to operate with effortless power and zero sonic compromise.

The 8381A supports a lifetime of creativity, so it includes access to our unique Genelec SonicAdvisor™ services. If you need support on your monitoring journey with the 8381A – from initial configuration to on-site consultation – we are ready to help.
