The Beast is back. And better than ever.

In the early 2000s, DD's 9900 series was dubbed "The Beast." After a long hiatus, The Beast has returned, better than ever. The latest version is designed to meet the demands of the ultra-low frequencies found in modern music.

The drivers in this series can be driven for long periods at very high power and with long excursions. The driver is optimized for playing at 1500-2500 watts and can withstand temporary power peaks of up to 10,000 watts.

A look at the driver's motor reveals where the name "The Beast" comes from. The magnet is over three inches high and ten inches wide. The precisely machined magnet structure houses a 4" voice coil. The mechanical excursion is over three inches, and even at its extremes, the voice coil remains sufficiently within the magnet to maintain driver control.

This driver features the ESP (Evolution Subwoofer Performance) design, which includes, among other things, larger diameter bottom spiders, a frame with the depth required for excursion, and a top spider and cone structure that differ from standard model series. ESP drivers are built to achieve maximum performance in their size class.
